Thai Pakse is rated 4.9 out of 5 stars, based on 143 reviews!
Spring rolls are a great appetizer here. Six halves with a side of peanut sauce and some sort of pineapple spring roll sauce. Spring rolls are reasonable sized filled with shrimp, noodles, lettuce and possible some other things. Nice mixture of everything inside. Peanut sauce taste as it should although it's a little thick and resembles pudding. The other sauce taste similar to the spring roll sauce with a hint of pineapple. Never had this before so it was a nice surprise.
Can never go wrong with sticky rice, cucumber salad, and fried chicken wings. Sticky rice is pretty normal therefore not much to say there. The fried chicken wings seem to be curry fried chicken due to its color and taste. Not overwhelming at all coming from a person who isn't into curry. The cucumber salad was ordered at a number 4 out of 5 of spice level. To me personally, was not as spicy as expected but had a nice kick to it. I thought it was a 2 or 3 but it's all different for everyone. Very similar to my mother's cucumber salad so it hit home. Very nice to have some taste to it other than just peppers. I'd come back and get this again.
The seafood lad na was fairly good, very authentic. It was a bit salty, but I'm sure that was due to it being a seafood combination, it wasn't unbearably salty. The noodles and gravy was perfect. Noodles were soft and the gravy had a nice consistency, not too watery and not too thick. Noodle, seafood, and veggies portion was good. They didn't cheap out on putting more veggies than anything else. It is a very good dish, the only thing I didn't like was that the seafood mix (squid, mussel, crab sticks, and fish balls) taste was all too "fishy". You could tell they were all frozen together cause the taste was all uniform with each different thing. I ate it plain with no spices added to it, I'm pretty sure many would spice it up with peppers and jalapeos and would not notice it. Overall, I don't think I would order this dish again, although I would be back to try the soups they have, once Texas isn't 1000 degrees out.
Best Thai restaurant in town! It's a cute hole-in-the-wall/mom and pops kind of place.
A cozy little family owned Lao restuarant hidden away in a Vietnamese strip mall with delightful staff and food. The owners make you feel more like you're at home than in a place of business and the food is authentic with very generous serving sizes. Definitely worth another visit.
I love coming to this place when I'm craving laos/thai food and too lazy to cook. Every dish is amazing with bursts of flavor. You have to order the papaya salad - the laos way and extra extra extra spicy if you can handle the heat. Come with an empty stomach because the serving sizes are large!
This is our go-to place for Thai food! Thai Pakse is always incredible. Authentic, fresh and delicious food! The owners are great. Thy come talk to you and ask what they can do for you. This place is not white linen, because t the food sure tastes like it!
We had the Spicy Basil Chicken and Basil Fried Rice with chicken. Also had sticky rice - which is hard to find unless at an authentication Thai/Laotian restaurant.
Never had anything bad here. Keep exploring the menu!
Today I was in the mood for noodles. I ran across this gem and decided to give it a try. Nestled off the street in a strip mall it's easy to miss. Once inside you're greatrd by friendly staff and delicious food. When ordering they let us know the specifics level was true to Thailand. I ordered the Pad Kee Mow at a 3 of 5 and wasn't disappointed. When it came out it had a beautiful charred flavor and you could tell the greatest care was put into the dish. My spouse had the massaman Curry and he loved every drop of it. This will definitely be added to our rotation of restaurants.
I've been writing Yelp reviews sporadically for years, and this is my first ever five star rating. Let me tell you why.
1.) Flavor/Portion: The word 'authentic' is tossed around so much, yet this is likely a dead ringer for the food at this spot. It's not only delicious, it surpasses the tastebuds with a certain hominess, and intelligence. I got the massaman curry. It was presented with plain white rice, in a sizeable bowl, more 'soupy' than I've had in the past (I've had this hundreds of times). The depth of flavor went for miles, the color was an alluring creamy orange, and it was rich and perfectly velvety. OK, this is where it goes over-the-top...they grill the tofu, and it tasted like the peanuts were homemade roasted - they also included a few pieces of pineapple which I love in curry but I've only had randomly in this dish - and it was not listed on the menu - so a nice surprise again. It's attention to detail like that that gets noticed by the son of a lifelong (now retired) chef. My partner got one of the two versions of drunken noodles, and it was just perfect, and again, really big portion size. The portion allowed for me to takeaway a near entire meal for later - so at $10 it was like getting two meals in one!
2.) Atmosphere: This is a typical small Asian restaurant, not fancy, but the simple touches like the faux jade tables made it stand out, as did the actual Thai or Laotian television musical programming. I found it charming. And the waitress was super attentive and always with a smile, and I didn't have to ask for a refil of my jasmine iced tea - which was a really light, and nice surprise when I simply asked for iced tea and didn't receive the same old boring iced tea you get everywhere else. Again, simple steps of attention mean a lot.
3.) Price/Spice: It was well worth the price of $10 (see above comments). It's not really a one star - more like a one and a half, but with quality like this they could charge that extra half plus and you would go away satisfied. For a little hole in the wall sort of place, this packs a huge punch.
In terms of spice level 1-5, be wise here. When they say spice they mean it - and in my book, that is to their good judgement. I asked for level 4 because I do, in fact, love spicy food, but everyone has their limits. The waitress said, "are you sure?" And I took that as a clear hint to knock it down to a level three - and so glad I did because even at that the spicy perfumed throughout - this is not for the typical caucasion pallete, it's definitely stepped up a few notches. If you only like a hint of spice get level one or two here. I was completely pleased with my choice, but some will find it intense - but culinary experiences SHOULD be exactly this, memorable.
In the end I have to say that for a first time visitor, I can definitely attest I will return, and if this type of experience happens more than once, I will be a customer as long as I shall be in the area, or as long as they shall be in business. Always loyal to those who provide heartfelt, great food that honors its traditions. A serious find!
PS: I am a pescatarian, and was able to find the menu suitable for most any dietary needs.
REALLY authentic! canot do better than this, its family run and Grand-ma make sure you are Happy! lol.
the food is really good! do not get big restaurant expectation...its more a kitchen with 5 tables!
I also have asked for certain spice levels and my food ended up with little or no spice at all. I was too Gaijin//foreigner they did not spiced it...
The rest is enjoy the food and talk to the owner they are Fun!...
Everything was so flavorful!! We got the Chicken Pad Thai and the Thai fried rice, our 3 year old devoured it all! The food took a long time to come out, about 30 min. But it was worth the wait!! They were running around working as hard as they could, so we didn't complain. Plus, it's worth it for real fresh food, you want fast, go to a drive thru.
Love this restaurant. Love the way you season, embellish the food. Beautiful and so so yummy
Amaaaaaaazing food! The service can be a little slow, so don’t go when you are in a hurry!
Best Thai ever! We have found our little mom & pop place that we will be going again. The price was reasonable but the quantity was huge, enuf to share for two & bring home for leftovers! Bonus Quality was excellent too! We've tried the chicken wings & beef salad for appetizers. Both were excellent. Husband had his fav, chicken pad Thai, which hit the spot. I had chicken basil fried rice, which is usually my go to, & it was DELISH! We will be back!!!
I love this place! Great food at reasonable prices. Everyone there is friendly and accommodating. Be sure to specify how spicy you want your food as their default can be way too much for some. A level 2 spicy is enough for me. :)
Good and flavorful Thai dishes to choose from :)) The level of heat we both chose was a 2 and 3, after being told that 2 was more than mild. But to our surprise neither were very spicy at all. Next time I'll probably go 4 and let the hubs go 5! Recommend it to anyone looking for some good and reasonably priced food. It's a small family owned restaurant so the wait is a bit longer than expected.
If you're tired of overly sweet, basic Thai food then this is the place for you. The menu is a mix between Thai and Lao food with many familiar favorites prepared authentically. The portions are large and the spiciness is on another level from most Thai places. I've ordered food at a level 3 and expected medium heat but was surprised by how spicy the dish was. The curries are good and the boat noodles are a must try! They also do the typical stir fried noodle dishes really well. The quality of service varies but everyone is friendly and you won't leave disappointed.
I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants and my favorite dish is pad thai this is one of the best I've had in the Metroplex which is saying something probably the most flavorful arguably that I've had and absolutely the best iced tea which is surprising give this place a chance and you won't be disappointed
Accidentally deleted the 5 star review.
This place has awesome food and 5 star service with awesome condiments.
Food is always temperature hot and as spicy as you want it to get; two of the most important things to me.
Finally found a great Thai place!!!! Portions are large, staff is friendly, food taste great , price is very reasonable.
When I can't get my mom to cook I always come to this place the food is going to be very authentic this is as close as you get it before your mom cooking if your Laos. The food has been really great I always try something different every time but my most favorite one is the curry. I feel like it's a little bit overpriced for my taste. The staff there is absolutely really nice and has really good at explaining every food on the menu and if you have allergies let them know and they will let you know if you could have that on the menu or not.
I was surprised to see the restaraunt surrounded by others and was curious as to how they managed to survive with so much direct competition...after my meal I have no doubt as to how! The Lao sausage was a lemongrass/pork bomb and absolutely delicious, with and without the accompanying sauce. The spring rolls were a meal unto themselves.
The Boat noodles were decadent and worthy of drinking the last bit from the bowl in which they are served.
Now that I am "in the know", I am going back for the jerky and picking the next entree randomly.
In the area for work so I stopped by to try the fare. I was not disappointed. The inside is small and clean. The restaurant was not packed at lunch but was busy with takeout orders and had a few tables at all times. The panag curry was delightful. The spices were perfectly balanced, the tofu cooked not too little or too long, and delicious veggies. Each curry dish is priced between $8-9 and the helpings are generous. Those working there were friendly and polite. I would definitely eat here again.
Best Pad Thai in Fort Worth. Not even close.
The best Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in DFW are right next to each other (go to Phuong for amazing Vietnamese.
I lived in Thailand for a month and this restaurant has the most authentic tic food, hands down. I also had the beef jerky and panang which were out of this world. There are so many Thai places I love in the metroplex, but nothing holds a candle at Thai Pakse.
- Beef jerky (the thin strips)
- Sticky Rice
- Chicken Pad Thai
- Chicken Panang Curry
PS: being authentic, the food is spicy, so be careful ordering anything over 1 Star.
Sapp Sapp Lai. Whenever I'm in a new state I have to support my Lao people and I have to say the food was absolutely delicious, everything tasted how it should be, definitely brought me home, will be coming here often when I'm in town
Best Pad Thai in Fort Worth. Not even close.
Also had the beef jerky and panang which were out of this world. There are so many Thai places I love in the metroplex. But nothing holds a candle up Thai Pakse
This is one of the best tasting Thai food ever . If you are not much of a spicy foodie, make sure you ask for mild.
Their Pad Thai is a lot more complex tasting than any others around. In fact most of the dishes have a lot more ingredients than the standard, hence giving the dishes a lot more complex tasting.. happy in my mouth, happy in my tummy! Yum!!
Their service is excellent and speedy... less than 5 minutes from sit down, order and food is right up front for you to chow down.
Most authentic / Best Thai & Lao food in DFW! I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys spicy ? food.
Food is out of this world good. Very friendly & kind atmosphere.
If you want amazing Thai/Lao food, this is the place. Great staff, great food. The Pad Kee-Mow is probably the best I've had at any Thai restaurant around DFW. A 2/5 heat level was plenty spicy for me. One crazy guy I went with ordered a 5/5 heat level on his Pad Thai... That dude was crazy... Both for ordering Pad Thai, when Pad Kee-Mow is on the menu and because of the 5 heat level... Crazy dude.
The boat noodle is a must, laarb chicken is delicious, ho Mok chicken is very good, great comfort food for people from Laos and/or Thailand... very friendly and excellent service!!!
Great food.....but I need to knock it down a notch on the hot spicey.
The foods was very tasty, friendly services but it took a while. The lady was by herself, she was taking order and serving foods, refill water, over all. I really like it there. Highly recommended this establishment to satisfy your Lao foods craving.???
Incredible. Soup people, don't sleep on the boat noodles. The thai beef jerky is also bomb. 5 out of 5 would recomend.
i love all delicious food and warmaly welcome resrurant .
This place by far has the most authentic Laos and Thai food. Their chicken larb is to die for, their papaya salad is the best, and the green curry is from out of this world! The best place in Texas!
Tasty lao food! They give you a huge portion at an inexpensive price (mostly under $10).
Looking for some authentic mom & pop thai food, this is place to go! I feel like my family prepares this meal for me. Was delish made with love. The waiter probably was their daughter. She was as sweet as can be. Everything we order was good. Will come back
We are from the east coast (NJ) on business trip and wanted to try an authentic Thai restaurant. After a good yelp search, we decided to give this place a try. All I can say is the food is delicious, and is authentic as you can get. The basil rice, tofu pad Thai, and shrimp Tom Yum soup was so good. In my experience, the only other place I can compare it to is a very good authentic Thai place I ate at in Woodside NY (SriPraPhai). Lastly, the owner was very friendly and very courteous, and made sure we were happy with our meal..all I can say is, keep up the good food and customer service and we will be back if we're in the DFW area again..
We were in the area and yelped our way here. What a wonderful place. This was great quality food with helpful servers. The spring rolls were fresh and enough for four. The shrimp Panang curry was beautifully done with a perfect spice level.
I think we stumbled into the best Thai restaurant in the metroplex. By accident.
The Thai tea was a bit weak and the owner noticed the ratio was off and redid them without our asking.
My husband tolerates Thai and mostly comes to make me happy but he loved his basil beef dish.
We will be back.
This place had the best Pho I've ever eaten! The owners came to our table and showed me how to add a certain sauce and lime juice to my pho to make it the best! My daughter had the pad Thai and said it was very good and my hubby ate the drunken noodles said it was delicious. We came all the way from Houston and we will certainly be back!
You guys have to try this place. Thai Pakse is my favorite Thai restaurant. The curry is the best I've ever had, specifically the green curry! All of the dishes are healthy and made with the best ingredients. April, the owner is such a sweetheart and always makes sure we are happy with the food! There are pictures of the food all over the restaurant. The service is amazing, they all speak English pretty well, and they are all so kind.
Best Thai food I've ever had, every dish I've tried here has been great.
Oh my goodness this place is so amazing! The owners wait on us and sit with us and make us feel at home every time we come out to have our favorite Boat Noodle Soup! Super delicious broth filled with noodles, meatballs, slivers of beef and veggies and nuts and onions and garnishes to top it all off! I add a little spice and it's so so good then I'm ready for a nap! Totally recommend!!
The best Thai/Lao food by far here in the DFW. Boat noodles is the best I've ever had. Highly recommended!
Great prices and good size servings! This restaurant needs more customers! The service was nice and the food was great! I definitely recommend the curry and the boat noodles!
Delicious and authentic Lao and Thai food. Food is very spicy here so be cautious when ordering a spice level 3 or just order extra water LOL. Place is pretty small with only a few tables but Will definitely be back!
I get so happy every time I come to this place. I like to compare Thai/ Lao restaurants based off of my favorite dish, panang curry. This place, honestly, is my favorite. The depth of flavor in the panang curry with the variety of herbs they use makes it taste so much better. I've had their other dishes as well such as the khao poon, and it is equally just as superior. The price for the food is insanely cheap! As for the place it is very small, cozy, and the service is phenomenal. They are very nice and love to talk to you. It feels very welcoming.
Just be prepared to eat spicy food. A level 2/3 here is like a level 5 at typical Thai restaurants.
The best beef boat noodles I've ever had!! I've traveled from Houston to Seattle to SFO for BBN and none is better than what they serve at Thai Pakse.
Great food always!!!!!! Try anything at least once and you'll want to try it again.......................
Boat noodle is full of flavor and a ton of meat. My kids love the sweet jerky and sticky rice.
It's Priced a little higher but with the amount of food you get makes it worth it.
Seriously the best Thai food I've had in DFW!! I had the papaya salad and masaman curry. The cook even came out to see if I was happy with the spice level. They aren't afraid of spice here. Don't let the outside fool you. This is THE place! Excellent food, generous portions and friendly staff. I will be a repeat customer.
Great food!! Staff was very friendly and helped suggest what favs they liked!! I really enjoyed eating there and will go back again!!!
Im not laotion, but I am very familiar with their culture. This hits the spot as far as authenticity. I am from Atlanta and alot of my friends are laotion, so being out here working in texas for a month, i definately found my go to spot for comfort. The owner thought i was lao because of all the menu items i ordered. He knew, I knew was I was doing. Kind of a shocker to find out that Im not Laos. Him and his wife treated us like family and made sure we ate well. Highly recommended!!!
EVERYONE NEEDS TO TRY THIS PLACE ASAP!!!! NO LIE.
Hands down the BEST Thai & Lao restaurant I have ever been to! Small family owned place and everything tasted amazing & fresh! My favorite place to get Thai and laos food now. This place did a really great job on enhancing all of the flavors. You will not be disappointed. Everything was AMAZINGGGG!!!
Tom yum seafood had so much seafood in it, it was great ! Mussle, crab, shrimp, squid, crab balls, ... like so much stuff in it I can't even list it all! If you're a seafood lover, you will def like this sweet and sour soup.
Chicken wings were crispy and I can't even describe the flavor, it was so good.
Papaya salad!!!! Omg!!! I usually have to wait till laos new years comes around once a year to get some authentic spicy papaya salad ....not anymore! (Btw, their spice scale goes from 1-5, my fiance and I did 5... it was lit af. But it was so worth it!) I have been craving some spicy food lately and this def satisfied my craving ! My tongue was on firee!!!
Pad kee mao YASSSS!!!!! I got it with beef and level 3 spicy, it was good. They do not skip on any ingredients. Perfect amount of meat to noodle ratio along with all of the veggies that come with it.
Just popped in there for lunch since we were driving by and I'm glad we did! We had three different dishes and they were all very good. The server (I don't know if it was the owner) was very nice and we had so much food that we had it for dinner that night too! If we ever get back to that area, we will surely drop in!
I almost gave this a 5 just to make up for the 1 star review. It can be easy to get burned when ordering Thai at authentic places. This one impressed me as being the real deal.
Thai Pakse had distinctive flavors that were not the same as every other Thai but pleasing just the same. Each table had an array of condiments so you could experiment a bit.
Very good spring rolls. A little short on shrimp but with that fresh flavor of mint and other savory add ins. Pad Kee/Drunken Noodle was large enough to split. Lots of veggies with noodles that have real wok flavor.
My Masamum had spot on flavor. I know this because of the spots on my nice shirt. The sauce was slightly thinner and sweeter than some but the bowl was large and chock full of veggies and meat. A little rice added thickened things right up.
Service was quick and simple. Not crowded on a Sunday evening probably helped. This was some of the better Thai I have had in a while. Next time I may explore the Lao dishes.
This place has amazing food! It's
Authentic & delicious. I was so pleased with the generous portions. We had leftovers for dinner. Decent prices, along with a very friendly staff!! We will be back!!!
We popped in I was craving Thai! The food was very good great flavor large portions. We can't wait to go back! Very authentic
The food is phenomenal! Taste like home made cooking which is always the best. Everything I ordered here didn't disappoint me (Lao sausage, pad Thai, chicken wings etc.) definitely would recommend anyone looking for authentic laos/Thai food.
Great service! All food was beautifully plated. The Thai boat was a bit on the salty side and the broth was pretty thick. I preferred it less thick. But I definitely enjoyed it. It's a pretty decent place. A must try if you're looking for authentic Thai/Laos cuisine
I thought I had been eating authentic Thai/Laos food until I began eating here! Kong and April are fantastic! They aim to please and do so with every dish and personable service! I eat here at least once a week. Your senses will be heightened and your taste buds delighted!
Got there when they opened at 10am. Was greeted by very friendly gentleman (the owner I think). We ordered the Lao sausage as an appetizer. Very good. Then I had the Seafood Pad Woonsen(glass noodles with veggies). It was excellent. Son had the orange chicken that came with steamed. He loved it. Hubby had the pork larb...3 spicey. Very spice for a 3. The friendly gentleman that took our order asked hubby if He was very sure that He wanted a level 3 spicy. Hubby said yes. OMG is was spicier than a 3 spicy than any other Thai place we have ever eaten at. I suggested that hubby order something else. Hubby ordered the same thing, but with NO SPICY! We told the friendly gentleman what happen and the cook came out and said that she can make him another one and mix them together. Perfection! Everyone was so very concerned and exceptional service. We live in Waxahachie and travelled to Ft Worth in search of a good Thai place. I think we found it! We left a handsome tip$$$ for their hospitality! We will definitely make that trip again !
Very good Thai boat noodle and Thai/ lao cuisine!!!! Best in the Fort Worth area!!!! One of those little mom and pop shops.. but a jem to eat at..service is good, but the shop is small, but worth going for the food!! Highly recommended
Very authentic food! Good price! Be careful if you get medium spicy at other Thai restaurant, you probably just need 1-2 out of five spicy level here! Good service!
The best Lao food in town! Menu includes dishes that other places don't serve and they don't disappoint! Flavors are on point and the servings are huge. Can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu!
Im very picky when it comes to pad thai, every thai restaurant has it, it is so common but not every thai restaurant I go to make a good pad thai!
Paksee has the best pad thai that I haven't had for years...! It is so goooood, also had their drunken noodle, delicious! Their stir fry dishes are the best.
I also had their green curry, it wasnt the best, i wouldnt order it again. It is very soupy, not in a thick consistency, doesnt have enough curry flavor.
But it is okay, their pad thai and drunken noodle made up for it.
5stars for the foood of course
3.5 stars for services
I had to have a meal with no corn, they were so helpful And made be a delicious meal without any corn products or derivatives. And it came to the table very quickly which was nice because we were a little tight on time! My husband got sesame chicken and said everything tasted so fresh and good. The service was excellent. Overall, a great experience and looking forward to returning when I don't have to ask for a special menu.
Fresh, yummy, and good price! Forgot to take a picture bc I was hungry so brain didn't engage!
I thought I knew what good thai food ws until I ate here! Me and my boyfriend eat here all the time it's great and the people are super nice as well (:
Boat Noodle Soup people!! First time having a beef style broth like this, and it will definitely not be the last! Beef jerky is a must as well! I will be visiting again soon
Looking for an authentic Thai food? Everything here is good, from the appetizers to the food. The owners are extremely nice! Totally would come back here again!
The food is super good. Try the pad thai and papaya salad. The service is really good, the owner is super friendly. Definitely will be back!!!
The best authentic Thao and Laos food I have ever tasted!! It's like eating a home cooked meal! The Laos sausage is delish, the papaya salad, Larb is spicy but oh so good! I also recommend the # 9
Delicious wings and Lao sausage with sticky rice. Staff is really nice and friendly. Menu has a good variety of Lao and Thai cuisines.
Best Thai in town! Extremely fresh. We ordered the spicy basil chicken, which was quite spicy... Number one on the spice scale was good enough for me. We also ordered the coconut curry which was flavorful and filling. Wont leave this place hungry. Definitely going back!
The food (drunken noodles) was great and the portion large. The service was very nice and the owner exceptionally friendly. It's not fancy, by any means, but the entrees are below $10. A great value, indeed.
I'm a huge Thai/Lao food fanatic and tend to be pretty picky, tonight was my first time here at Thai Pakse and I can only come up with One word "AMAZING". Amazing food, amazing service, and most importantly Amazing people!!!
I have now decided to go TCU because of this beef pho. I think that's all that needs to be said.
My wife and I are from out of state searching for a unique place to eat we turned to yelp. We visited this quite restaurant based on its yelp reviews. Yep the reviews were spot on this place is a gem and the food.....was spectacular. My wife and I split the spring rolls wow the best I ever had. They have a huge viariety of soups. I will be visiting this place next time I will pass through Fort Worth. Oh yea the price for the both of us was in the low $20. Thanks for the meal you have a lovely family
Real authentic Thai/Lao food! Guaranteed Everything we ordered was amazing. Hands down best Thai restaurant by far. Highly recommended
Tried this place out yesterday and loved it! My new favorite Thai/Lao restaurant! Will be coming back for sure.
Exceptional lunch- crab curry and sesame chicken was great. Authentic. Had center rangoons too. Full of crab and the sauce was flavorful.
Highly recommend. The boat noodles and curry were phenomenal. Definitely coming back again. Very flavorful and extremely authentic! You won't find many dishes they have here at their restaurants!
Very good place! Highly recommend. Friendly staff great food. Wind be depressed what so ever
This place is awesome. The owner is super friendly and recognize me almost every time.
I come here for the beef Thai salad. Definitely the best Thai/Lao place in town.
I had their papaya salad before the Thai and lao version both pretty good.
This was my first time here. I ordered vegetable Pad Kee Mao. I also asked for the vegetables well done. I thought my sauce was a little too sweet. I like mine with no sugar. The veggies were done well. Large portion, overall very good, just a little too sweet for me. I would eat here again
Great food! Great staff! Cozy environment! I have enjoyed this experience immensely.
Very good and friendly staff. Chicken Pad Thai at a 1 spice level a little bland. I recommend at least a 3 spice level to have a bit of a bite to it.
Friend had Sesame Chicken which was delicious with a hint of molasses.
I absolutely love this place! Any place that is tiny, with super friendly staff and tons of regulars -- you know they are doing something right. We actually saw some regulars help clear out another table so a couple who just walked in had a place to sit! How awesome is that?! I don't know why but I always order too much when I come to places like this -- it's because I can't have my papaya salad with out some kind of fried meat plus I need sticky rice to sop up the juices so of course, I ended up taking over half of this meal home and having it for dinner. I wanted the fried ribs but they didn't have any so I ordered the chicken wings instead -- they were so good! I think they were marinated in some kind of lemongrass or something and then fried to a crisp! I ordered the Lao style papaya salad and it was really good and the perfect spice(level 4) -- just a tad on the sweet side for me but I'll just tell them not too sweet next time. Mike ordered pad thai with tofu(because he likes to play it safe when we go to new restaurants) and it was pretty good, just a bit greasy. This place had tons of stuff on the menu I want to try so we will definitely be back.
Small, brightly lit and pleasantly chaotic on my first visit, the food is amazingly fresh and the owners are very welcoming. Best Pad Thai w/ Tofu I have had in years and wonderful egg rolls with a superb sauce...I realize those are standard Thai dishes, but if they can't nail those why try anything else! BYOB makes it all the better- I am looking forward to my next visit.
Give it a whirl, you will not be disappointed!
Best Thai food I have ever had cant wait to try more of the menu!
Small place but the service was great - normally my go to when trying a new Thai place is pad Thai but the boat noodle soup looked too good to pass up! I was not disappointed one bit!
First time going there and I loved the customer service and the food! Will come back!
This is my new Thai spot! The service was fast even though the restaurant was packed. I had the chicken sesame, and Lao sausage, and my friend had the boat noodles soup. Everything was amazing!
Aaaaammmmmaaaazzzzzziiiiinnnnngggggg! Food was great! Service was fantastic. Found our new favorite spot!
Best Yellow Curry and spring rolls in town! This is my favorite place to eat. Very authentic and terrific!
Had the Panag Curry and Thai tea. Food was delicious! One of the best places in DFW in my opinion. Service was excellent! It's a little hard to find the place but well worth it. Will be back soon.
This is our "have to go once a week" Thai restaurant. So good! Owners Kong and April are really nice people, service is excellent, but the food and food quality is what sets this restaurant apart from all others. If you go, you'll go again and again. A bit out of the way, but worth the effort. Try the fresh shrimp spring rolls as a starter, then pretty much everything on the menu is outstanding. And it's super inexpensive.
I got the Spicy Basil chicken and rice and it was soo good! April, the owner, is also soo sweet! I would definitely come here again. One of the best Thai places in Ft. Worth. Also, if you love spice this is the place to go
Recommended by a regular customer. Glad we found out about this place. Ordered crab Rangoon which was nice. Basil fried rice really was delicious. Not greasy, full of veggies. Massamum curry with beef was very good. Great service and very friendly staff. Will definitely become regular customers too!
Fantastic thai food. The boat noodles and pad thai was amazing. Perfect flavor and very fresh ingredients
Anthony Bourdain would love this little shop, deep in the heart of Texas. The basil is not to be missed.
We randomly stumbled upon this place, and OMG!!! The food is delicious and fair priced!
I came in with my party of six after a busy day outdoors and we decided to pig out and order EVERY SINGLE APP. Our favorites was the Papa Salad (4 spicy), chicken wings, fried pork ribs, and the chicken larb. They were all well seasoned, and made to order. Everything was hot and crispy!
Also order their Tom Yum as a soup to share and the portion was perfect. Flavors are well balanced. Hint of sour and spicy, but not too overwhelming. Ask for sticky rice. It complements it well.
Despite our array of entrees I also ordered the boat noodles #10. If you never had this I highly recommend it. Similar to Pho, but with a totally different twist. The broth is a thick sweet broth that's flooded with noodles, water spinach, meatballs, onions, and peanuts. The peanuts was a perfect touch and complement the overall flavors of the noodles perfectly.
Highly recommended. Will definitely come again. A+++++
AmaZzzzzing pho and pad see ew. Gosh. So many flavors. Small restaurant but it's filled with culture. Go try it!!!!
I have been eating thai food for thirty years and have eaten at easily 100 different places. The Spicy Basil from these guys is the best dish I have ever had anywhere that was thai. I ordered spice level 3 (out of 5) and it was hot. I will be back today to try another dish but I may go one level lower on the spice. If you like thai and have not eaten here you are missing out.
The best Thai Basil Beef I've ever had! Spicy AND flavorful. The owners are so gracious and talented. Went on a weeknight without ordering ahead and it took them 5 min to get my order to me, fresh! I can't wait to try other menu items!
5 Stars for food & service! Come here if you love really AUTHENTIC food and/or if you LOVE spicy. This place is spicy like no other- if you ask for it! Some Thai places you ask for a 3/5 spicy and you don't taste it at all. Here, you will DIE. Be warned. On another note, the owners are incredibly generous and nice. They remade my dish because it was too spicy for me and didn't charge for the extra rice or anything. Your satisfaction is their number one priority and they are extremely proud of their food. My favorites are the pad Thai and Pho ox tail. TRY THEM OUT! A+++
This was my third time here - we had an order of spring rolls, I had Khao Poon and my boyfriend had yellow curry. They never fail to disappoint!
Came in after class on a wednesday, spontaneously. I went as a group of 6 and we all got something different.
I ordered the chicken pad thai and it was THE BEST chicken pad thai i ever tasted!!!! The chicken was not dry, it was a good amount with my noodles. I even had some left over.
The company i was with ordered some level 2 and level 3 spicy dishes. It was insanely hot!! The customer service was amazing! They noticed how hot and red our faces were so they offered to make a new dish with less spice! Heed their advice when they say their dishes are spicy!
The cook is also very welcoming and offers to customize your dish as you wish. You can get combination meat on pretty much anything.
I will definitely be back and will refer all my friends! The best hole in the wall thai place i have ever been to!
Food is still good, service is good but something was off tonight.
The kitchen has been slow the past two times we came. There was only one table of five in the restaurant with us. Took almost 30 mins for our appetizer to come out. We only had egg rolls, lad na and pho too. I'm hoping they were just having a bad night.
Man, I wish this place was close to my house instead of an hour drive. I was finally able to stop by since my nephew had a soccer game close by.
As soon as we walked in, the owners gave our 3 little ones some juices. That's the Lao greeting I am use to when we go to a Lao person's house. There's only about 9 tables that seats about 35 people. They are still working on their menu and said we can order anything we want because they have a lot of authentic Lao dishes not on the menu yet.
We got chicken steamed in banana leaf, not on their menu. It taste just like mom's. We also got other typical Lao dishes, such as pork sausage, beef jerky and crispy chicken wings to compliment our papaya salad. All tasted delicious. Their Thai boat noodle soup was good but a bit overpowering with flavors. Maybe we'll ask for the less authentic version next time.
The owners were so nice, they gave us a complimentary black bean and lotus root in coconut milk dessert. Another one of my childhood favorites but don't know how to make. Most places that have it doesn't add the lotus roots.
Again, I wish they were close to my side of town. I want to try their many other dishes. We all agree it's slightly better than Nalinh's.
Wonderful Lao Asian food.
First time trying it and the experience was truly amazing! The staff is very friendly and the food is absolutely delicious and inexpensive!! Will definitely be coming back.
Byob! And excellent service and food!
How have I not been here before!!? The staff was so nice and fun to talk to on our visit. Be prepared for large portions. I may have tom kha gai all week. My only regret is that we were so excited about the mango stickey rice that we didn't get a picture to post.
Thai Pakse Restaurant has really nice Pho Soups spicy and non spicy. The Pineapple Fried Rice is delish. The staff is really friendly and they make you feel right at home they are also really good with kids I welcome you to come try them out you will not be disappointed. In addition please try their Sweets rice mango! It is to die for!!!
First time here and the foods are really good. The owner was really nice and friendly and definitely will come back
Found a new Thai/Lao place to frequent!
I ordered crab rangoons for appetizer. There were 8 little egg roll shaped rangoons, with sweet chili sauce & a couple slices of cucumber. There was something desserty with the rangoons. My brother said there was not enough wrapping to it, while I felt like the filling tasted kind of cheesecake-ish. I prefer the filling to be less sweet & tangy.
My brother ordered Lao sausage, Lao papaya salad & sticky rice for his meal. All were pretty standard in flavor, but the salad was a huge family size serving, so great value . The Lao sausage was served with a tomato jeo sauce. The sauce was loose & thinner than other tomato jeos I have had, flavor was okay.
My fianc & I both ordered their boat noodle. Since Thai Charm's was the first boat noodle we ever had (and inevitably the one to which we compare all others), I'm seriously about to dissect this (LOL) & hope it helps the boat noodle lovers:
- this broth is thinner than TC. I like that it's not as sweet as TC broth
- standard meats: eye round & meatball
- different meats: TP has sliced liver (beef?) whereas TC has beef tendon. I wasn't paying attention so put a whole slice of liver in my mouth thinking it was the eye round, I wasn't prepared for it & needed to wash it down quickly LOL
- similar veggies in the bowl: water spinach, fresh red onion, sliced celery. I think TC actually has white onion & sliced Chinese broccoli stem in their's, which TP didn't
- there was some kind of pinkish pure visible right under a mound of crushed peanuts on top of everything when they bring your bowl to the table. We tasted it & think it's fish or shrimp sauce, like viet version of pa dak? Different.
- I like that TP leaves the bean sprouts on the side so you can add in yourself, & the sprouts aren't soggy/already blanched like at TC
- also bonus is they give you fresh Thai peppers (nuclear!), long beans & shrimp paste to dip while eating with your noodles
- TP's serving is WAY more than TC's serving. It's like a pho bowl, size large
- TP's is also cheaper ($8.65) vs TC ($9.95 during my last time there).
My fianc liked this boat noodle better, since it was less sweet & more brothy. There are pros & cons to both, but I may give TC slight edge, only cuz TC gives the option of flat noodles, which go so well with their more viscous broth. But I did like how much fresher TP boat noodle was, & that it's much better value for your money.
One of the servers checked on us while eating & after chatting, I'm thinking she was owner? April was super nice, let us know they've been open for 4 months, encouraged us to check out their website, as well as visiting Yelp to leave a review as well as receiving a discount for 15% off. She spoke to my fianc in Lao & also refilled his Thai tea at no charge. She gave us business cards & was very accommodating.
We will definitely come back to try other dishes like their crab curry & tom keung nai. There are other familiar Lao noodle dishes like tom muah, khao poon & mee kati, which I'm looking forward to going back to try. We saw them bring dishes out to other tables where servings were huge. This place has food that's just as good but doesn't charge as much as other Thai/Lao places, therefore making them a better deal.
Yummm!! Decided to try something new! Went to this Thai/Laos place called "Thai Pakse Restaurant" I ordered the Khao Poon Mee Katee (soup/pho) and I got it spicy, and he ordered the Pad Thai with chicken!
The entire presentation of the dishes was beautiful and looked too good to eat!!! But I was hungry and it was entirely delicious! The place even had these super neat light-emerald green marble looking tables. The staff was super friendly, helped us with questions about the different dishes, asked what types of food we wanted to eat, and recommended some good and popular dishes! (: I'm really glad we tried this place out! It was fantastic!
The best Lao food in the area. I love the boat noodles! A must try place if you're looking for authentic Lao food that tastes like home cooking. I've came many times and have got nothing but great service and great tasting food. They treat you like family as well.
A small family owned restaurant with amazing service. Super friendly and inviting. First time trying it. I was definitely impressed. Huge portion sizes with a lot of extra toppings and sauce selections.
Try the chicken spring rolls! Made fresh right when you order - filled with lots of finely chopped lettuce and veggies with rice and chicken that tastes so refreshing and served with a peanut and sweet sauce that added an amazingly sweet zing to your taste buds!
That was just the appetizer! The Beef Boat Soup was packed with noodles and beef and veggies topped with chopped nuts with a side of basil leaves and bean sprouts to top it off adding to the sweet and spicy sauce a nice bold and cool crunch that keeps you wanting more and more. Their spicy Bamboo has a kick and a great mix of veggies and slivers of Bamboo in a nice creamy sauce that is still light and very tasty over nice thin slices of white chicken. Finally the Drunken Noodles had an amazing toasty flavor that left a picture of the wonderful mix of bright red and green peppers and other veggies with these nice wide flat noodles being tossed in a grill in a sauce that caramelized over it all searing in that robust filled toasty flavor!!
Oh and Mouthwatering Thai Tea to go left me smiling all the way home!
Great Thai food, little hole in the wall...Thai boat and chicken wing is a must!!! Great customer service!
I ate at Thai Pakse last week and it was great. We ate family style (all the different dishes are shared). Everything was very flavorful and delicious. We had Thai papaya salad, Thai Ginger, Pork Rip Thai Style and Green Curry. I would recommend them all.
The owner was amazing. My mom didn't mean to order spice but she did and it was too hot and she came out and said sorry and she was the nicest lady. We said that it wasn't her fault. She didn't charge us and gave us free drinks. We will definitely be coming back! They really respect the costumers!
Thai Pakse Restaurant has really nice Pho Soups spicy and non spicy. The staff is really friendly and they make you feel right at home they are also really good with kids I welcome you to come try them out you will not be disappointed. In addition please try their Sweets rice mango! It is to die for!!!
You must try this place. Best Thai food I ever had. Service is great. Owner is allways checking if you are ok. 5 star Brent McDonald
I personally liked this place. It had a really nice staff and the food was absolutely delicious. It's only been open for 1 month and it really is great. Although when we got our check, we were charged for our waters. I was very surprised since most restaurants don't charge for water. But overall a great experience and I would definitely go back.
Definitely a must try! We got the tom yum, papaya salad, and the saikok. Their saikok has so much flavor. Will be coming back again!
I hate to be a sheep, but yup this is a 5* gem of a restaurant! Delicious food, calm ambiance, wonderfully welcoming service. I wish we lived closer. If you live closer, come try it all! Pad se ew was one of the best I've had (and I've had a Lot). My wife had the pad thai which was one of her favorites ever (again, this is her Thai staple). Great place!
Spicy basil was delicious, and spicy! Very nice ladies working today as well. Combo noodle soup was tasty as well! Sesame chicken seemed to be made with chicken nuggets, but it was still good, especially served with noodles! Definitely would eat there again!
This is the best hidden gem of a treasure I have found in a long time! This has some of the best Thai food I've ever had in this area! The ingredients are fresh, the spices are unbelievably authentic, the food is made with pride, and the hostess were genuinely pleased we liked the food. The owner came and sat with us and was interested in feed back. This is a must try spot if you like Thai food. Everything was garden fresh including the spring rolls which normally get made ahead of time. The portions are very generous and the price is a good value! We will be back next weekend for sure. If you leave this place hungry it's your own fault! Absolutely delicious!!!
Very homey atmosphere. Super friendly proprietress and staff. Tasty and fresh. Black rice and mango dessert with coconut cream is divine!!!
I love this place! I've been here 5 times already. Great authentic food with reasonable price. Very friendly staff.
very good food with nice service! very spicy Thai peppers! I recommend to everyone that loves Thai food
This food was AMAZING and the Cook name was April she told Us about the food we ordered and the Ask Us to come back and then told us about other foods that she thought we may like to try when we come back but overall the Service was Great Thank You for reading
This place is the best value for thai food in Ft Worth, with large serving sizes at reasonable price, and Lao food if you're feeling adventurous.
The Khao Poon is delicious, and all dishes are fresh with lots of vegetables.
First time here and the Thai place is amazing! I ordered pad Thai and now this is one of my most favorite spots to eat pad Thai! Great service by the waitress and owners of the place!
Food is great. Pho has large portions and they offer ox tail. Friendly staff. Definitely give it a try! I had the pad woon sen and it was very definitely tasty.
Food was excellent. I had the spicy bamboo for $7.65 and it included a soft drink. I'd give it 5 stars but the atmosphere is so so. If you live here or are traveling for work like me it's a must.
Very good food that's authentic and awesome! Must try!!! Owner is very nice and atmosphere is comfortable! :)
Boat noodles for the win. I came here w/ Lyn b/c I needed to get some Lao food and she's the authority. Naturally we ordered enough food to feed a middle school boys football team but for 2 girls.
We tried the Lao papaya salad and ordered it spicy. They were not messing around with the heat level. The salad was so good that despite it melting my face, I continued to eat it.
Beef Salad - this sounded great in the description and came with a ton of greens and tender marinated beef, but it was too sweet for me. I wanted more heat. I would order this spicy next time.
We both got an order of the Boat Noodles- this was so good. I loved the rich broth. The noodles were firm. The suspect little meatballs were chewy and flavorful. I didn't eat the pig ear or blood- just plopped that into Lyn's bowl. I would order this again!
We also got a basket of sticky rice to scoop everything up with. They made it fresh for us.
I got the Lab Nad to go for the hubby- wide flat noodles stirfried with egg- then you pour a beef stew like mixture on it and nom down.
Service and food are great! Delicious and authentic Thai and Lao food. The cook is always willing to adjust flavors according to your liking. I really like their Lao sausage and beef soup. Their Nam khao is good too.
My friends and I had dinner here today and I absolutely adored the food and the service!
We were greeted by Kat? Cat? and she was helpful and informative when we told her it was our first time here. I've been on a Thai food kick so I generally knew which dishes I wanted to order, but it was nice to know she wanted to ensure we had a good experience. She was attentive throughout our meal but not in a pushy way.
Every dish we ordered...and we ordered a lot!...was flavorful and just delicious. What stood out to me the most after each tasting was that my first thought wasn't "hmmm sweet" which is awesome! The sweetest dish was the boat noodle, which I tried for the first time ever, but was told by my Lao friend that it's suppose to taste a little on the sweet side. It was tasty but I'll stick to pho lol. The Thai tea was also not overly sweet. My favorite dish was the Thai papaya salad. It was spicy, tart, fresh, and pungent;-) The prices are great! You definitely get a lotta bang for your buck here!
Five stars for a great new restaurant that I can't wait to come back to! Highly recommended!
2nd time here but today I ordered to go for lunch and I'm having left overs right now for dinner! Huge portions!
I've tried the boat noodle, lard na and pad se ew all delicous!
Hope the price and portion stays the same for awhile! Good luck to this little establishment!
I think I may have found my new favorite Thai place. The hubby and I ordered Thai style papaya salad, nam kow, fried chicken, soup, and sticky rice. Omg, the portions are HUGE!
Everything we tried was very good and tasted fresh. The price is reasonable considering the portions you get. We had enough to take home for the next day's lunch and still be full. If they can keep the same quality of food at this price and portion, I can see them doing very well.
